Dr Gail Ouellette
French Language Educator
Gail Ouellette has a PhD. In molecular genetics and is a genetic counsellor. After working in genetic services, she founded the Regroupement québécois des maladies orphelines (RQMO) or Quebec Coalition of Orphan Diseases in Quebec and its iRARE Centre, an information and support centre for rare diseases. Because of the many requests of information from people who suspected EDS, she gave particular attention to this syndrome by attending international meetings, the EDS Canada Foundation’s educational conferences, an EDS Society ECHO training, etc. She also taught a course on the molecular and genetics aspect of EDS in a diploma on EDS at the Université de Paris in France. She is a Bureau member of GERSED, a French group of health professionals dedicated to EDS. She helps people in Quebec navigate the health system to obtain a diagnosis and care for EDS. She also does education and genetic counselling for those who wish to undergo genetic testing for EDS and other hereditary connective tissue disorders, a role she is taking on for the EDS Canada Foundation.
